The Story Behind The Business: Happy Daisy

Now this story behind the business post is a little different to the others I have previously done. Instead of handmade goods, this business makes food! Introducing Happy Daisy.

Happy Daisy is a local vegan food producer based here in Gloucester! The people behind Happy Daisy are vegan and here is why:
"The main reason for the vegan lifestyle is ethics.  We don't feel the short term pleasure that we get from eating certain foods is worth the value of another's life.  60 billion animals are killed every year for the sole purpose of feeding people (Its so hard to imagine a number that big, but if you killed one animal every minute, it would take you just under 150,000 years to kill 60 billion)!

Aside from the direct harm we do to the individual animals, many more are killed as a result of animal agriculture.  Up to 91% of Amazon rainforest deforestation is caused by animal agriculture, causing the extinction of over 100 plant, insect and animal species every day.
There are more greenhouse gases released from animal agriculture every year than all the worlds transport put together (18% to 13% respectively).
Finally, in order to feed those 60 billion animals every year, we need a massive amount of food.  This could easily be redirected to the 800,000,000 people current starving in the world."
Happy Daisy's aim is to provide both vegans and non-vegans a great alternative to food that contains animal products. They also want to abolish the assumption that vegans eat boring foods. They provide a great range from pasties to cakes that often surpass their non-vegan counterparts.

So what part of the business is Happy Daisy most proud about? Here is what they had to say:
"The thing we are most proud of is the reviews we are getting from customers who have tried our food.  Both vegans and non-vegans seem to be really impressed with the quality, flavours, textures and choice of food we offer."
Happy Daisy currently sells their food online and deliver to an area of 5 miles around small town Quedgeley. When possible they also set up stalls at local fairs giving more people to try their delights, but the big dream is to be able to open their own 100% vegan cafe!

If you live in the Gloucester area you can buy their food here.

Gloucester Food Festival 2017

Gloucester Food Festival is the event of the summer in Gloucester so it was only right that it rained during my visit!

For three days at the end of July, Gloucester Quays transforms the Docks into a feast of wonderful food and handmade items. From vegan chocolate cake (I highly recommend!) to fudge and cheese. There is something for everyone.

I visited on the first day of the festival (Friday) with one of my best friends Kirstie (a budding blogger and handmade creator). This was her first time visiting the Food Festival and I just loved showing her around.

Every year the festival just gets better and better, with this year being the first that absolutely anyone can watch the demonstrations! The festival is completely free and is set in the beautiful Historic Docks. Not only is there the chance to try the fantastic food but there is a great range of alcoholic beverages available also!

Live music is also being played throughout the weekend, while we were there a lovely band were playing some delightful acoustic covers.

If you get the chance to visit Gloucester Quays for any of the brilliant markets and festivals they host, do it! And whats better you can also treat yourself to some discount designer shopping while you are at it!

The Next Step in my Blogging Dreams

Hello there!!!

So exciting things are occurring. First of all I have created a Facebook page that will work to support my blog and will also be a place where by I will post all of my writing projects including garage door blogs and any other opportunities that come my way.

Secondly I have made a bit of an investment. I have bought myself a second hand DSLR camera. Photography is already a hobby of mine. I take my Instax mini 8 with me where ever I go!!!
I'm hoping this will improve my photography skills and help me to produce better quality pictures to share with you!!!

I am also beginning the process of branding my blog. This includes the creation of a logo and hopefully a complete redesign. I'm very fortunate to know an amazing person who happens to be a very close friend, who is helping me with all of this. Hopefully I can twist his arm and get him to help me use my camera!!!

These last few weeks have been hard. A lot of things have happened that have knocked me down and I have struggled to get back up. I have been having panic attacks and just generally not feeling myself. This time has also given me a chance to reevaluate my life and what I really want to achieve. I want to do something that makes me happy and something I really enjoy. Because of this I have been putting myself out there. I have advertised my want for writing experience and opportunities on Gumtree and have been applying for I don't know how many free lance and part time blogging and content writing opportunities. I've even been going for jobs outside of Gloucestershire.

So now for a little bit of a plea!!!
Do you run a small business or charity? Do you need someone to write your blog for you or would you like to be featured on my blog? Or maybe you know someone else who would be interested in what I am offering? I would love to come and visit you and find out more. See you hard at work making your dreams come true.
If this is something that appeals to you please email me or message me via my Facebook page. All I ask is that if you are out of the Gloucestershire area you can contribute to my travel costs and maybe throw in an iced coffee!!!

This is my dream and I am working so so hard to make it come true.

What a Beautiful Day

Happy Saturday!!!
Today I woke up and all I wanted to do was make something. Get all crafty again!!!
Typical me I didn't know what to make all I knew is that I wanted to try something new. So to help me decide I went for a walk into town and let me tel you the weather was beautiful. Check out this gorgeous picture of the Cathedral I took.

This has been a long week and ever muscle in my body was starting to ache while i was waking around so I decided to try my hand at making bath bombs!!
I made two varieties; lavender and, green tea and cucumber. Honestly I was surprised how easy they were to make. I found a simple recipe on the diy projects for teens site. Unfortunately I don't have a bath so my sister will be testing them out next week for me!!!
If they work as they are supposed to I will be selling them over on my depop page for just £2.50 each!! They will be made to order and I really wanna try out loads of different colour combinations, shapes and scents so please feel free to request anything no matter how crazy it is!!!!
The bath bombs are currently drying so I don't have a picture of them at the moment but keep an eye on my instagram later.

What I Bought Today | 28th January 2017

I did a very bad thing today. I walked into The Body Shop. and yes I did spend far too much money. But the staff in my local store are just so lovely you kinda cant help emptying your bank account into their tills!!!
All I wanted was the new InstaBlur which is very much like Benefits Pore-fessional which I received in my birchbox in December but is a lot cheaper!!! So this was £15 for a 25ml tube and I cant wait to give it a try!!
So that was it I was happy i had found what I came in for when the lovely lady behind the till asked if i wanted to try the new Drops of Youth Liquid Peel. Now I'm not one to turn down a cheeky tester and boy was this good!!! the amount of dead skin to peel of the back of my hand was amazing!!! So obviously I had to buy that as well. So this was also £15 for a 145ml bottle. She then had to go and ask if I had any other concerns with my skin. Now my current issue is that my skin is just covered in black heads. I have literally tried everything and nothing works so she then showed me their tea tree range. Now I love tea tree oil, it does absolute wonders for my hair so hopefully my face should also reap the benefits. So in a bid to banish those black heads I bought one of their Christmas box sets. So the one I bought contains a 125ml tube of 3-in-1 wash, scrub, mask and an anti-imperfection serum. Because it was a Christmas set it was reduced from £18 to £12.

I can't wait to try these lovely products out and a big shout out to Mandy in the Gloucester store, you were such a brilliant help.

This Is Not My Gloucester

What is wrong with people in Gloucester at the moment?
Since when was it the norm to carry a knife and use it?
Since when was it no longer shocking to hear that another person has been stabbed or that there has been an attempted stabbing?
Is Gloucester really that bad of a place to be these days is it really that dangerous that we have to be prepared to protect ourselves this is no longer the Middle Ages where everyone carried swords to protect themselves from bandits.
We have progressed from that so why is it now, this week that so many people have been hurt.
Why is there a family mourning the loss of their child due to some one from Gloucestershire.
This is not on, this sort of thing shouldn't be happening like this in Gloucester. Gloucester was a relatively safe place.
But now?
Now you have to watch your back when you walk home from work just in case a clown wants to chase you or in case you walk into a potential stabbing.
I see so many people wanting to leave such a lovely community because of it.
I see people crying over loved ones because of it.
This needs to stop.
This is not my Gloucester.

underground festival

I wasn't originally gonna go to underground this year but am I glad I did!!!
For those of you who don't know what I am on about, underground festival is a free gig with loads of local bands playing.
This year I met a couple of new friends who are pretty awesome lol!!!
So we mainly hung around the LAB Records stage and watched Canary Swing, Katie Sky, and Anavae!!!
Canary Swing a couple of songs from their ep which is available on iTunes!!! But they also sung when there is milkshake on the table which I absolutely love!!!
Katie Sky's music was very chill with everyone sat on the floor just relaxing which I really liked! And I have to say I am now a fan of hers!!!
So finally it was Anavae's turn. They have come all the way from London and rocked the place!!! I have been following them for about a year and this was the first time I had seen them live.
Some time for you to see what it was all about. It is photo time!!!
